Easy Homemade Bagels 🥯

These are SO easy and SO yummy.

Many bagel recipes require so much time and effort, but these are so simple and so much better than store bought. I like to make these some mornings for breakfast, and use the leftover bagels for sandwiches for lunch later! These are so good, and it's so reassuring knowing the clean simple ingredients used.

Recipie makes 4 bagel's. (Feel free to double or triple the recipe depending on your household size)

Preheat oven 375°

Mix together:
  • • I cup unbleached all purpose four, whole wheat

  • or gluten-free mix* (I use Bobs Red Mill)

  • 2 tsp baking powder, (make sure it's not expired

  • or it won't rise)

  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt, use less if using table salt

  • I cup non-fat Plain Greek yogurt, (must be Greek)

In a separate bowl, whisk:
  • I egg white or whole egg,

(This is for egg wash to brush on prior to adding toppings)

optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning,

sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic flakes,

dried onion flakes. (Whatever you want really)

Option to also to top with shredded cheddar cheese/ jalapeños

Directions:
  1. Flour hands and workspace to prevent dough from sticking to you or the surface. It is very sticky.

  2. Make 4 balls of dough and then create the hole in the middle. I usually will push my thumb through the center and shape that way.

  3. Place the formed dough on parchment paper on a baking sheet. (if i don’t have parchment paper I use Kerrygold butter on the sheet)

  4. Coat the dough in the egg wash and then add topping of choice.

  5. Bake for 25 minutes and let stand for 15 minutes.

* Keep in fridge up to 3 days.

* If freezing, cut in half prior to freezing

Comment below and let me know what your favorite topping combo is!
